Is there a direct flight from Dhaka to Colombo?

Quick answer: Yes. FitsAir flight 8D 932 leaves Dhaka at 23:59 and lands in Colombo at 03:05, and SriLankan Airlines also sells Dhaka to Colombo, with round trips from BDT 73,954 on 1 November 2026. Bangladesh is not on Sri Lanka's free ETA list, so you need a paid ETA from eta.gov.lk. Sri Lanka is 30 minutes behind Bangladesh.

What does a 3 am arrival mean for your plans?

The FitsAir flight lands at 03:05. That is too early to check in at most hotels and too late for a good night's sleep on the plane. Plan the first day around it.

How much is a flight from Dhaka to Colombo?

These fares come from SriLankan Airlines' own Dhaka to Colombo page on 1 November 2026. They are the lowest economy round trips for one adult in each month, and they are samples, not quotes.

What this tells you: November and December were about BDT 6,300 cheaper than January and February on the fares we saw. We did not find FitsAir fares on a page we could read, so compare both airlines for your own dates.

How much baggage can you take?

SriLankan Airlines' baggage page puts Bangladesh in its "SASC" area with India, Pakistan, Nepal and the Maldives. On 1 November 2026 it gave these allowances for routes outside the Americas:

No single checked bag may be over 32 kg, and the airline says there can be exceptions by period, routing and fare type. FitsAir's site links to its own fare types and baggage pages, so check the allowance on your FitsAir fare there before you pay.

What is the time difference with Bangladesh?

Sri Lanka is 30 minutes behind Bangladesh all year. Bangladesh is on UTC+6 and Sri Lanka is on UTC+5:30, and neither changes its clocks.

So the FitsAir flight takes about 3 hours 36 minutes from wheels up to wheels down, from the timetable and the time zones.

Do Bangladeshi visitors pay less at heritage sites?

Often, yes. Bangladesh is a SAARC country, and the Central Cultural Fund tickets page, as read for our ticket guide on 24 October 2026, says SAARC citizens get a 50% discount at its sites, such as Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura. The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage also has a lower SAARC price: USD 11.80 for an adult against USD 17.70 for other foreign adults, on its official page on 1 November 2026. When should you go from Bangladesh?

The Department of Meteorology's consensus outlook, issued 30 October 2026, gives a higher chance of above-normal rain over most of the country in November 2026. For December it gives slightly above-normal rain over most parts and near normal in the Northern Province. Can you add the Maldives?

Yes. FitsAir's schedule also lists Colombo to Male flights, and SriLankan's route map shows Male as a flight from Colombo. On 1 November 2026, SriLankan's Bangladesh site showed Dhaka to Male round trips from BDT 72,337 for 17 to 18 November 2026. Ask whether your fare lets you stop for a few days in Colombo.
