Talalla Retreat is a beachfront retreat with five yoga shalas, open-air and air-conditioned. It says it has taught yoga on the south coast for more than 20 years. Its 8-day all-inclusive Wellness Retreat runs every week, all year, with daily yoga and Pilates, three meals a day and seven nights' stay. Until 31 May 2027 it says the USD 450 tuition is waived, so you pay for the room only (plus 18% VAT). Talalla is about 10 km from Hiriketiya by road.

Weligama is known for beginner surf lessons, and both studios here keep classes small or hotel-based. Basecamp runs two 75-minute classes a day and welcomes non-guests to drop in. Ahangama is about 9 km west of Weligama. The Well has a yoga terrace for up to 17 people and welcomes outside guests between retreats. Ember & Ice, on Dharmarama Mawatha, has a shala alongside a sauna and ice baths. See our Ahangama guide.
